The stubborn AI refuses to negotiate any deal with you too unless they really like you. On its own, it’s arguably one of the best mod overhauls there is out there for Rome 2 but it has its issues, battles are way too long, you take huge taxation penalties and your units are unfairly nerfed too while the AI units are buffed. Most people here will know of Divide Et Impera so I’ll keep the description of it brief it is a superb overhaul mod that adds hundreds of new units unit skins new playable factions, better diplomacy, an overhauled economy and battles. | Facebookĭivide Et Impera + Ancient Empire + Economic Rework DeI review:

Personally, I consider this to be by far my favourite set of mods to use for Rome 2. The Seleucid's aren't the only super power of course, my rivals are the following: Rome, Carthage, Egypt, Mauryan Empire and Macedon. Factions are more willing to trade, ally or surrender to you if you are much more powerful than them. The factions are more concerned about their own survival and that has meant my satraps have stayed loyal to me out of fear of being annihilated given I field ten armies to their one. Overall: The sub mod essentially takes away all the cons of DeI such as the insanely stubborn and suicidally aggressive AI as well as the annoying nerfed economy. I rule over most of the Middle East and I make 4-6K a turn and I think that’s fair. This lowers the upkeep of units and increases tax revenue for all factions. Economic Rework: One of the issues that bugged me about DeI is how little money you and everyone else has to work with early on. The new campaign map took a little getting used too, they replaced it with the map from the Augustus campaign which I LIKE! Especially when I plan on playing as Sicily or Pergamon. They don’t have access to their decent units early on which is not a fault of the sub mod but even so I’m decimating Egypt. They ambushed me and I still routed them. They have abandoned their provinces in Asia Minor (and Salamis) in favour of defending Egypt itself, but my average army consists of Levy Pikes, Hoplites, Archers/Syrian Archer mercenaries, Elephants and Persian/Median Cavalry and theirs consist of Egyptian Infantry, Pikemen, Archers and Cavalry. A war in which I am winning, other than an ambush battle (which I still won), Egypt aren’t putting up much of a fight. I’m currently at war with Egypt for control of the eastern Mediterranean. Macedon are rather expansionist and are at war with Sparta and Athens as a result, but they’re winning, which is good, Macedon is my ally. This isn’t to say the AI is passive, Carthage is invading Italy and Syracuse are assisting them. If you’re a huge faction like the Seleucid Empire, little factions like Media won’t declare war on you from turn one if they don’t have a chance of winning. It feels like the AI is looking out for its own survival over trying to kill you and I love that, anything that is beneficial to them, they’ll take it. Ancient Empires: This mod makes some tweaks to DeI, the AI’s willingness to negotiate with you has been redone – I’ve had factions who have ‘Hostile’ relations towards me accept Non-Aggression Pacts and Trade Agreements without demanding stupid amounts of money.
